With Abu Dhabi just a memory for us now, Sarah S has returned to her temporary home and is out making the most of the cooler UAE weather…
Having spent the summer traipsing through Central Asia I find myself back in Abu Dhabi longing again for the excitement and adventure of camping. My boyfriend however isn’t so keen on the camping situation! He says it’s due to his height, I think perhaps he’ll just miss his home luxurious too much.
Luckily, we have found the perfect solution in the Longbeach Campground! This beachside campsite has been brought to life by Bin Majid Beach Hotel. It’s a luxurious camping experience (would you expect anything less in the UAE?) located right on the beach in Ras Al Khaimah – what a spot!
Accommodation at the Longbeach Campground
Having just launched for the second season, Longbeach Campground is back and better than ever. The new camp features add comfort, luxury and practicality to the campground and thanks to their huge expansion, they now have some new and exciting accommodation options waiting for you.
These lovely pre-erected tents elude a more traditional style of camping without the effort. The lush bedding ensures you have that all-important night’s sleep, whilst the view of the beach and ocean beyond remind you of your exotic location.
The bell tents come in two different sizes giving you a choice of a romantic break or a fun family getaway.
With the traditional safari tents, you’ll that have all of the luxuries of home, whilst being a stones throw away from the excitement and activities that the Longbeach Campground offers.
Each safari tent is set up to accommodate a family of four with a double bed, two single beds, a small seating area and a full bathroom (with toilet and shower). Incredibly, each tent also includes a portable air-conditioning unit, which makes it the most comfortable camping experience I have ever experienced.
Panoramic Dome Suite Tents
These gorgeous geodesic domes are a fabulous new addition to the campground and definitely will be my accommodation of choice next time I visit Longbeach Campground.
The tents are stunningly modern and include all the features of the safari tents as well as a private, rustic spa tub. I loved the light and inviting feel of these tents in particular (unlike your typical camping experience).
Meals, Meals, Meals
A fan of breakfast being included, Longbeach Campground steps it up a notch with dinner, a three-hour open bar and soft-drinks included in your stay!
Dinner comes in the form of a BBQ buffet service, with live-cooking stations set up along the beach. Chefs serve up an array of dishes from around the globe while you dine under a romantic canopy covered in twinkling fairy lights.
Sounds magical? It is.
Longbeach Campground has an exciting programme they have created to ensure family fun for everyone.
On arrival, you are issued with a detailed schedule of timings and activities that are available during your stay and, as you’d expect, you can take in as much or as little as you like.
Being the big kids that we are, we loved all the activities – even the ones designed for a much younger audience (and I don’t think we were the only ones)!
Some of our favourite activities were:
- The open-air cinema – it’s a really cool new addition! The platform is built up on stilts so as the tide comes in it gives the appearance of the cinema floating in the ocean.
- Giant monopoly which was extremely entertaining. We felt no shame in trying to beat the young children we were paired against – the only contention in the game was that I found out that I’ve been playing the wrong rules for the past 30+ years.
- Stand-up paddle boarding – it’s possible I enjoyed this so much as I finally found something that I’m better at than Michael! We might be just a little competitive!
- Petting zoo – we both love animals and were actually the first ones to visit the little zoo, with baby chicks, rabbits and more importantly a dog to play with. It was a great start to my day.
All the excitement doesn’t end there though – other included activities include sunrise yoga, beach games, archery, pottery classes, marshmallow roasting and much more.
If you would prefer to spend your time relaxing and soaking in the rays, Longbeach Campground has also got you covered.
Take time out from your busy schedule by soaking in the hot tubs, releasing tension in the cute portable sauna or catching up on a bit of reading in the beach chairs which you’ll find scattered along the beach front.
When we weren’t joining in all of the fun, you could find us relaxing by the infinity pool, one of the best new additions to the campground, with a stunning view overlooking the campgrounds and ocean.
The whole team were amazing, but it was the entertainment crew that really stood out as being incredibly fun and engaging. They did an great job of getting everyone involved, having a great time and pumped for the activities they supplied.
Even better, the whole staff are fantastic with children!
They made all of the children feel special and had them engaged in activities, allowing their parents to take a step back and relax a little – plus there’s the added bonus of the kid’s area to keep the little ones entertained (and provide the adults elsewhere with some lovely peace and quiet).
The Longbeach Campground: Luxury + Absolute Beachfront
We loved our weekend away at Longbeach Campground. It provided us with a memorable luxury camping trip, without any of the preparation or hard work.
We think it’s the perfect spot for some good old family fun!
The extended season is open every weekend until the end of April 2019, so you also have plenty of time to check out this amazing beachfront glamping site!
