There’s nothing quite like a staycation when you live in a part of the world that people dream of visiting. The chance to escape reality and pretend you’re on holiday, all without the expense of flights and the hassle of extended travel times.
After a hard and extra stressful work week, I couldn’t wait to check-out from reality for a bit of relaxation and the Ajman Hotel was just the escape I was looking for. The beautiful white sand beach, framed by palm trees, gives the illusion that you’re in a tropical paradise far from home – only if you already live in the UAE, you needn’t go far.
Unwind and Relax at the Ajman Hotel
The Ajman is the perfect place to kick back, whether it be a full-blown holiday or just a days escape. On this particular weekend, I was all about the beach and the pool, because, at the end of the day, is there any better way to unwind?
The outdoor area at the Ajman Hotel is equipped with not only a large swimming pool, but also a range of comfortable loungers, a swim-up up bar (for those inclined) and a kid’s pool and play area for the little ones.
If the beach is more your style, head to the private shore and take a step into paradise. This idyllic beach is dotted with palm trees, sun loungers and hammocks, all patiently awaiting you. The UAE might not be top of your list when you dream of beach-holidays but you’d be mistaken in writing the country off – this is an exotic location that could be anywhere in the world!
So, what did I think of it all? The lazy person inside me loved the added bonus of the beach buggy roaming the beach. It was there solely to satisfy our eating-drinking-general-beachy needs, delivering everything directly to the sun loungers – what a treat! I loved this unique idea and think it’s something every beach hotel should consider bringing onboard.
If you’ve let your worries melt away poolside, only to find you need an extra dose of relaxation, I can personally recommend you relieve the tension of the week with a massage.
The Ajman Hotel houses two different luxurious spas to cater for all your needs with a range of treatments and pamper options.
On this occasion, we decided to try the Softouch Ayurveda Spa. This spa and all of the treatments use the principals of Ayurveda, an Indian holistic healing system that is designed to bring the body back into balance.
The experience started with us meeting the in-house Ayurveda doctor who explained the concepts of Ayurveda and discussed any health issues or past injuries to be wary of. After this discussion and a run-down of the options available, we decided on try a full body massage, the benefits of which included stress minimisation, improved blood circulation and improved sleep.
My personal thoughts. This particular type of massage wouldn’t be for everyone but it certainly delivered on the promise of stress relief (and after my week, I needed it!). The massage itself was fairly strong but if you prefer a softer touch, there are other options that can be selected. I also found the staff to be highly professional the ambience of the room inviting.
Stress relief? Absolutely!
It wouldn’t be the UAE without a brunch on offer and the Friday Garden Brunch is definitely a one you don’t want to miss when visiting Ajman.
This relaxed brunch housed in the Ajman Hotel offers a great range of international cuisine with seating, either outside in the garden or on the terrace, with views of the Arabian Gulf.
As with most UAE brunches, this one has a rich array of cuisines and tastes to tempt every palate. The huge variety is enhanced by the live cooking stations scattered around the venue along with a cute children’s section offering nibbles and a popcorn machine for the little ones.
Our Favourite Brunch Stations
My personal favourites on the day were the fresh pasta and dessert stations, with the Indian station winning my overall favourite of the day!
This station was a mix of starters and bite-size nibbles; they were an amazing fusion of flavours and presented in a way I’ve never seen in Indian cuisine. The tastes and textures were outstanding! I really couldn’t get enough of the tandoori prawns and the chicken masala (on crisp roti) – I’d recommend you head straight to that station!
The pasta station was also very impressive with the chef making fresh pasta right in front of hotel guests – it just doesn’t get any fresher. Once you’ve personalised your pasta to perfection the chef will whip it up and then personally deliver it to your table – now that’s what I call service.
Perhaps surprisingly, the dessert station isn’t usually a favourite of mine but the assortment of desserts were all beautifully presented and so enticing I couldn’t resist being tempted back time and time again. My favourite of the desserts was the deconstructed lemon cheesecake – it’s the perfect ending to a brunch blowout.
Dress Code – What Should I Wear?
As many of the diners were in-house guests, dropping in for a spot of lunch before making their way back to the beach, this brunch is a bit more casual than many others the UAE. The beauty of this is that you can dress up or down to your heart’s content. From casual visitors to the more typically-done-up diners, the Friday Garden Brunch offers something to suit everyone.
Summing Up Our Ajman Hotel Brunch Experience
All in all, I really enjoyed the brunch, especially the more relaxed feel and the live cooking stations. The live music really lifted the ambience, energising diners and make the brunch extra special.
Is It Time to Book in Your Next Staycation at the Ajman Hotel?
Chances are, absolutely!
After a busy few weeks, it didn’t take long at all to slip into that ‘holiday feeling’ that we all covet so much.
Our visit to the Ajman Hotel was fairly priced considering the level of service, it was an easy drive from Abu Dhabi (and is even closer if you’re in Dubai ) and it’s perfectly located on the beach.
Next time you need a little break, or a holiday within a holiday check out the Ajman Hotel – you will not be disappointed!
Thank you to the Ajman Hotel for hosting Sarah for the purpose of this review and for providing additional photography. As always, all thoughts are our own.
Why not book a weekend away at the Ajman Hotel to treat yourself? I’m having serious Abu Dhabi FOMO and would love to live vicariously through you!
